Sparkling, Chic Gold Coast Wedding

For the past couple of years, I've had the honor of photographing several Lurie Children's Hospital Foundation benefits, including the First Look for Charity at the Chicago Auto Show! Through these events, lovely bride-to-be Maeve and I became connected and first met for a memorably wonderful glass of wine at the 3 Arts Club after her engagement. We chatted dreams, ideas, vision and her plans with Erik for a winter wedding day in Chicago's Gold Coast.

(You may remember Maeve & Erik's featured engagement session in Lincoln Park this past summer!)

Their December wedding day was blessed by sunshine and just a touch of snow. The bridal party prepared at ultra-chic (and freshly renovated) Talbott Hotel before the traditional Catholic ceremony at St. James Chapel, two blocks away. Following mass, the bride and groom walked with their bridesmaids (cozy in fur stoles) and groomsmen to The Casino, Chicago's iconic club on Delaware Place for cocktails and reception.

December 9, 2017 will stand out in my memory for this couple's charm and warmth and the elegant perfection found in the simplicity and quality of each detail of the wedding timeline. It is my hope that these wedding photographs (it was difficult to limit the highlights to only fifty!) capture the magic that was Maeve & Erik's winter wedding day in Chicago.

Epic Greek Orthodox Chicago Wedding

May 27, 2017 has been marked with a big red heart on my calendar for over a year. Carly and Chris planned a wedding day packed full of celebratory details, surprises and special moments. Kicking off the day with a wedding gift of Christian Louboutin pumps and a mother-daughter whiskey toast, this couple honored family tradition and faith with a Greek Orthodox ceremony at St. John the Baptist in Des Plaines. Following a rose petal-showered church exit, the party bus stopped by Catherine Chevalier Woods for photos of the wedding party and Chris and Carly. Wedding guests enjoyed cocktail hour at The Empress in Addison until the bridal party welcomed the bride and groom with a stunning sparkler entrance to the ballroom.

Classic Oak Park Country Club Wedding

Brianna & Jack planned the wedding of every wedding photographer's dreams- even down to choosing the church with the longest center aisle in the Archdiocese of Chicago. Now while this is a true fact, it's not the length of the church aisle that sets the tone for a couple's wedding photography. These two chose to celebrate their wedding mass at St. Giles Catholic Church in Oak Park to honor Brianna's parents who were married there themselves. To follow, the wedding party took a trolley to the Oak Park Country Club for photographs before heading to The Empress in Addison for their reception.

I believe with my whole heart that beautiful photography is meaningful photography- that photographs of venue, decor, jewelry are not valuable unless imbued with memory and emotion. Wedding photographs should tell the greater story of a couple, not only the story of their wedding day. The amount of thought and time Brianna and Jack invested in their wedding vision for their friends and family to celebrate and enjoy one another is an apparent testament to the love in their families. It was a joy and honor to witness their wedding and photograph such a landmark in their lives.

A photographer is only as good as the team that creates the details of a wedding day. I'm grateful to my assistant photographer for the day, Jenna Hazel, the With Love Productions video duo, Deptula Florist, Standing Room Only, Premier Trolley & Limo, and the Suite 115 Salon. It was difficult to keep this wedding preview under fifty photos, but please enjoy these gems from Brianna and Jack's beautiful, balmy wedding day.

Cheers!
