Bohemian Vintage Brewery Wedding

A few years back, a Portland man had relocated to Chicago for work and lived around the corner from Renaldi's, an Italian restaurant. This restaurant not only boasted fabulous pizza and beer but also a particularly adorable bartender named Jessica. The two finally met the night of his 26th birthday, when they were both out on the town with their friends in Wrigleyville. Barton recognized Jessica and Jessica recognized Barton, and they connected the dots with Renaldi's- but it wasn't for several more flirtatious visits for pizza and beer that Barton finally asked for Jessica's number and she agreed to go out with him.

After three years together in Chicago, the couple moved to Portland, where Barton proposed at beautiful Multnomah Falls. Shortly after, Jessica began planning their wedding and gave me a call! Now kids, usually an initial phone call with a bride lasts about twenty minutes, tops. After two hours of laughter and conversation about everything from the wedding to college experiences to local Glen Ellyn life, I was definitely hooked. Jessica was planning a BHLDN-inspired dreamy vintage wedding to be hosted at the Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora. This promised to be a day to remember- and it was!

I hope that you enjoy this sneak peek of photographs from Barton and Jessica's wedding day celebration. From the bride's velvet Stuart Weitzman shoes to a stunning set of yellow gold wedding rings, the details are whimsical and vintage but still oh-so modern.

Love, Grace xo

Midwest Garden Courtyard Wedding

One day a couple of years ago, Kacie was going about her business, outfitting her handmade girls' clothing booth for that day's farmer's market. Another vendor down the row, a tall, dark-haired entreprenuer chef of The Eating Well company, brought by a cheesecake with a smile to introduce himself. Kacie now says she was totally taken aback and thought "stranger danger" thoughts, but the cheesecake looked delicious... and she was pretty hungry. Turns out the cake was delicious and she and Daniel struck up a friendship. Their friendship quickly turned into something more as they bonded over their mutual love of dogs and family, good food and business ownership.

When I first met Kacie and her mom Meg at a coffee shop in downtown Geneva, I was touched by their friendship and inspired by the way Kacie talked about how she envisioned timeless, elegant wedding photography for her big day.

I was even more excited to hear they had chosen to book May 6, 2016 at The Herrington Inn- one of my favorite Chicago suburbs wedding venues. (Deanne Mitchell, wedding planner, and Rose Johnson, banquet manager, make up the Inn's stellar, experienced team who work together to make each Herrington couple's wedding day dreams come true.)

When the innovative team at Elizabeth Wray Design signed on to create the floral accompaniments (complete with armloads of hydrangeas, coral charm peonies and exquisite ranunculus accents, Kacie and Daniel's wedding day was guaranteed to be gorgeous- if the weather cooperated.

AND IT DID! Gorgeous, sunny, warm May weather showed up in the late morning and held throughout the day. The ceremony was held in the courtyard and was officiated by Kacie's uncle, the Honorable Thomas Otepka of Nebraska.

It was a joy to celebrate with Kacie, Daniel and their families and I wish them all the happiness in the world in their future together. I hope you enjoy this preview of their wedding day as much as I did putting it together.

Hugs,

Grace

English Gothic Univ. of Chicago Wedding

The 2016 wedding season is officially off with a champagne pop! This weekend we celebrated Victoria and Michael's wedding, with a ceremony in Bond Chapel on the stately grounds of University of Chicago and reception following at the Thompson Hotel Chicago.

This is a preview of the day... a sneak peek of wedding highlights that you won't want to miss! Bouquets & centerpieces were created by Exquisite Designs.

The bride, known for her affinity for fancy footwear, wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown with strappy Jimmy Choo sandals. The groom and his men made a dapper appearance in spring bowties.

A real show-stealer, Hercules, the couples' much-loved rescue pup was present for their balcony first look.

Toast & Jam DJ Leslie impressed at the reception with a blend of spice and jazz featuring Bebel Gilberto to Etta James and Nina Simone.

Dreamy Midwest Riverside Wedding

It was a gorgeous day in April for a wedding yesterday in downtown Geneva at Riverside Receptions. Not only was the weather warm and wonderful, this wedding also featured some of the most lovely details from BHLDN and Kio Kreations. This is only a sneak peek, but it's just too good not to share early!

Congratulations to the happiest couple, Jessica & Justin!
